Celebrate the 4th of July at Sagamore Hill National Historic Site!
The National Park Service invites you to join us on July 4th from 12pm-4pm for our Independence Day Events!
Renowned Theodore Roosevelt and Quentin Roosevelt will be spending the afternoon at Sagamore Hill meeting visitors, reading the Declaration of Independence, walking the grounds, and posing for photos and selfies at the "Presidential Photo Booth". The event also features free tours of the Roosevelt Home, the Calliope Brass Band, a Junior Ranger Program, assorted lawn games and crafts for kids, historical exhibits at the Old Orchard Museum, as well as a variety of walking and self-guided touring options throughout the park.
All activities are free and open to the public – reservations are not required. Come spend the afternoon in your local national park and enjoy Sagamore Hill as the Roosevelts' would have over a century ago!
North Dakota Department of Commerce meet & greet
Saturday’s festivities will be a follow-up to Friday, when the hotel will host a visit from Teddy Roosevelt (reenactor Kurt Skinner). Teddy will be our featured entertainment for a look back to his early 20th century escapades in Colorado. Meanwhile, guests will dine and drink during another spectacular multi-course dinner in our ballroom. He will offer guests a trip into history that they will not forget and be on hand all weekend for more fun on Sunday.

Citizenship in the Arena
The original working donkeys in the local mines were released from their rugged jobs in the early 1900’s. That’s when they were freed to roam among the Gold Camp and original Members of the Two Mile High Club formed to care for them. Today, that occasion is celebrated in their honor every Memorial Day when the herd is released from the winter pasture to roam the streets of Cripple Creek. This year’s release will feature a visit from “Teddy Roosevelt” himself, along with a town picnic, music and some good old fashioned summer fun!
Kurt & Larry discuss some of the many “firsts” that Theodore Roosevelt accomplished during his presidency.
